Transactional Data Store

November 21, 2013  |   Posted by :   |     |   Comments Off on Transactional Data Store»

Definition: A data store for transactional data, such as the database in a student information system or an instructional management system.

What This Means: Transactional data are elements created that describe the work as it happens. For example, transactional attendance data would be the detailed data about student attendances, absences, tardies, excused absences, etc. on a period-by-period basis within a student information system’s database. The detail represented by transactional data allows us to analyze relationships, trends, changes, and other facts that higher level statistics mask. Transactions also provide the ability to freeze a point in time for counting events.
